Word Vomit

“Writing is like vomiting: you get back whatever you put down, and if you put down nothing then all you’ve got are dry heaves.” I’d quote myself as original on that one, but my guess, someone else somewhere else said it better first. They always do. Like Dan Andriano sings, “All my favorite singers have stolen all of my best lines.” There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t all ready been said better by someone else with far more talent than I’ll ever aspire to. Usually they are musicians, sometimes they are poets, and on occasion it’s an author or fellow writer. This is my little corner of the interwebs and I’ll spit up whatever I’ve recently swallowed down. Writing is a process that never leaves the stage of infancy.

  1. Hope you are well. Come vomit some more if you are not. Might make you feel better. My blog is doing well. Thanks for all your support over the years back to Xanga when you were like the only person who commented. I might have stopped but I’m glad I didn’t. If ever I can do anything for you in return let me know. Peace. May the force be with you.

    • I really need to get back to writing. I’ve kind of strayed off the beaten path lately. I’m not entirely sure why. I think I lost a lot of desire for writing when Xanga went by the wayside. It’s hard finding that desire again.

      • I found writing in the morning works for me. Because at night I don’t know I kind of feel like I’ve already thought about everything. The morning feels like new thoughts are born. I’ve heard that from others too. Hope you get back to writing although it is very unrewarding so are many things like TV, and as you’ve written about alcohol, I’d add cigarettes. At least writing is healthily unrewarding. I like to listen to music when I write. And dance around a bit. My friend said I looked funny one time when she saw me writing but I don’t care I am always alone so no one sees. Anyway. I wish you well! Beaten path or not.

      • Y’know, I have found that when I start my day writing I usually fair best. Don’t have time most mornings, however.
